A Year Later

It has been a year of constantly reading, researching, recording, improving my voiceover career. This is where I am.
I have discovered two different approaches to voiceovers. There is the coaching/learning business side, then there is the performing. This all feels the same as when I started pursuing acting at age 19. I feel like I am starting from the bottom rung and I am constantly searching for what my next step should be.
My memories of getting headshots, walking the pavement, and waiting in long lines just to flub up the audition are vivid! I can still smell the city smells as I walk down the street and run into another fellow actor from college or high school. I miss taking classes and improving my singing voice (and speaking voice). I miss the city and the bohemian vibe of the late nineties in theater.
So here I am, reliving this journey I took so long ago and beginning this journey again. This adventure now takes place in my home in a dark closet with a beautiful AKG microphone and lots of sound treatment. There are some things I wish I would have learned before I started submitting to production rosters. Things like sound treatment, coaching, groups, fixing audio, and getting a professional demo done. I am listening to many podcasts, reading books, watching videos, and constantly improving my website. The one thing that is resonating with me these past two weeks is you must spend money to make money. You are a brand and an entrepreneur. You need to act like one.
So off I go to learn more. I will revisit this blog again when something else truly resonates in me. Blog to you soon!
